Anubias Nana Attachment Question

I just purchased a really nice looking Anubias Nana from my lfs. I cut it in half because it had nice roots and seemed that I could get more bang for my buck this way. I attached 1 peice to each of my peices of driftwood using rubber bands, how long do I have to leave the rubber bands attached to ensure that the roots have taken to the wood?

This is the first live plant in my tank (other than a moss ball) so I am excited to start replacing the cheesy decor that I bought originally with a natural look and live plants. I still have really tacky, bright blue and green substrate but hey it is what it is and hopefully with time I will switch to a more natural looking gravel. Thanks for any comments!

anubias nana is a nice little plant, i have some too. i would probably leave the rubber bands on there for a while because they are very very slow growing plants so it will take some time for them to get established and rooted onto the wood, i've had mine for over a month and they're only just starting to actually attach to the wood

Yeah i really like the look of them should look nice once the rubber band is gone, thanks for the reply, I will give it a month and see how it goes, can you see when it is beginning to root into the wood?

yep they sure will yeah you can kinda see, because the roots on them seem to be sort off stiff rigid things anyway so you can see when they start to attach because they will just sort of grab the wood, and be flat against it thats the best i can describe it ha

To save time you can just glue it to the wood, that way you don't need to worry about taking any string etc off after a month or so.

maybe I will just do that Stevo because I did not trim the roots either and everything i am looking at now says that would be a good idea...the roots are really thick and long on the one I planted.

I can't remember the time period... but I was told if you split an anubias it has a sort of toxic sap (not sure if that is the right term) that comes from the cut and you should not add it to a tank with fish until it has soaked for awhile.

As for attaching it... I have used both the right super glue or just string on separate occasions.
