A surprise this morning in that one of my anubias has produced a flower of brilliant white.I think this is the anubias wavy variety that I put in over a year ago.

Is that a nana plant? What are your water parameters? Do you give the plants fertilizer, CO2 etc. I am very jealous. I wish mine could flower like that...

I would assume Anubias get most of the nutrients from fish waste and fish food, being such a slow grower. That said, what they lack in growth they gain in strength.Anubias are “thick skinned” so to speak and to keep that strength they need enough potassium, which also helps with flowering.
I don’t use CO2,but I do add potassium and iron.

How would you add the potassium and iron?

Plants don't flower under water, flowers are made for pollination, something that doesn't occur under water. Anubias are terrestrial plants that will survive in a tank, but they are not strictly aquatic.

I've had many of those seed pods from my anubias nana totally underwater.

some plants are self fertile and don't need a pollinator but I am unsure if Anubias fall into that category.

Maybe it does, just seems weird to me. I thought the idea of a flower was, so you ended up with pollen from another plant, so that your species is strengthened. Animals don't self-pollinate because you would become genetically weaker.
