Hello. I went to fit a new light on my low light tank and I noticed that the Anubias has sent up a flower bud. I assume that means the tank is good and stable. Will adding a better light with a dimmer disrupt the balance? The current light is a single T8 with the cheapest 6500k bulb I could find, reaching the end of its useful life. The replacement is a nicrew classic led set suitable for low light tanks. Should I just go for it?

the flower isn't going to be fertilised in an aquarium so you may as well change the light.

Interesting, maybe that's why mine never bloomed.
Is it just Anubius? I've seen plants flower underwater so maybe that's another kind?

Anubias are marsh plants that flower and seed when they are growing out of water. Marsh plants don't normally flower under water and there is no way for insects to pollinate them if they do.

Amazon sword plants are a marsh plant that produces flowers on a runner when growing out of water, and baby plants on a runner when grown under water.

Most true aquatic plants don't flower at all. Vallis is an exception and sends a flower stalk up to the surface so insects can pollinate it. Aponogetons will also send up a flower spike to the surface so insects can pollinate it.
