last night on the way home from work, i stopped at wally world to get some things for the house, and some aquarium rocks or marbles (didn't know what they would have). there was a couple there buying some fish. the salesman was helping the lady out, so i asked the guy, "ya buying some fish". he goes yeah, but he doesn't want any, his wife does. i told him they shouldn't buy fish there, to go to petsmart or another local lfs we have. our petsmart is a pretty good place. employees seem knowledgeable, store is clean, and i have only seen one dead fish there. anyway, he said he told her that but she wanted fish last night, not wanting to wait till today. i asked him what size aquarium they have. he thought it was a 15 gallon. they were buying about 10 fish (guppies and some other fish-i couldn't tell what it was). plus, they already had some fish in it. i told him that is probably too many fish for a 15. i hope they go to the other places and ask some questions. oh yeah, i asked him if they have internet, but they don't, so i couldn't tell him about this site.

I can totally relate to that story. A week ago, I was in Walmart getting some junk, and saw a family with a 10 gal starter kit in their cart. They were buying all the stuff to set it up, and then, waiting for an employee to come scoop some fish for them. I had to butt in then, couldn't let them do it. I asked, "Are you going to set this all up tonight?" To which they replied, yes. I told them not to get the fish yet, they needed to do a lot more than just put water in the tank.

To make the long story short, I felt good that I had stopped them from making an uninformed purchase. Hopefully, they will do a little research first. I told them about this website, hopefully it will do some good.

Good job,guys.

I wish everyone had access to this board. I've learned a ton of stuff since I joined back in october, and I had kept fish for almost 20 years!
