Another Tank Sink

I now have another tank sick. It is 21 gallons and contains 3 tetra, 1 chinese algie eater (full grown), 1 cory cat fish, 3 swordtails, 3 guppies, 1 live plant. I have added the tetras about a month or so ago. i have one tetra appear to have been salted. the other two have some but not as bad.non of them had this problem right away. none of the other fish have spots, but some are very listless. they still seem to have an appetite. I also seem to have at least one fry. Im not sure if i should remove it as it may have the "sickness" and put it in my fry tank.

I have tested the water with API test strips and are as follows:
GH-180
KH-180
pH-7.0
Nitrite-0
nitrate-20

I am currently treating them with tetra Lifeguard all-in-one treatment as it is what i treated my other tank with and it appears to be doing well. I still loose one on occasion.

Am I doing all i can for them or should i do more??

If it looks like they are covered in salt, its probably ick. I would look that up and see if it looks the same as what your fish have.

yeah that sounds like white spot to me.

Are ur fish flicking or rubbing against things?? Breathing heavily?

Have You raised temp to 30.
Increased aeration.
Removed black carbon from filter.
Are you using the full dose of whitespot med.

I currently have nothing to test my ammonia. Sorry.
the tank has been up and running for a good year and 6 months now. First time i have gotten this problem since!
I will raise the temp, as to airation.. i currently have another tank recovering from white spots too. But as of last night their medication was done. Can i move thier airation over to this tank?
The filter has been removed since i started the treatment.
I am using the full dose. It stated 1 tab for every 5 gallons of water. I put 4 tabs in every night.

I have only seen one fish rub and that was my male swordtail. the other just seem to be content hiding in the various decorations around the tank, espically where my alge eater likes to hide. (a little out of character) they do not appear to be breathing heavily however.
the tank was just cleaned about a week ago. (all fish, rocks and decorations removed. but still left about 50% water).

Sorry if i forgot to answer a question. but, keep the answers comming! I want to save this tank, as it is my offical breeding tank.


Sidenote: how long do alge eaters live. this one is going on 2 years old

The fish are probably heavy breathing due to removing the filter, and no aeration with the med.
High temp and med reduce 02 in the water.

I would add the filter back to the tank. Lower the water level so the filter hits the water harder.
