I woke up this morning to find our lil pearl danio floating at the top of the tank :-(

I have no idea what has gone on....

But it was only the other day we lost of Betta (Siamese) to what we think was an attack from some of the other fish.

There was no signs he was ill....acting normal, swimming around with our zebra danio and BANG...

Is it possible the water was contaminated from when the betta died???? (Tues) he was alive for a gd day and night after the attack.

I am not aware of all the stats - this is the other halfs hobbie, I'm just c'ing if there is anything I can do 2 help.

There is now the following in the 90 litre tank:

1 zebra danio
2 opaline gourami's
1 3-dot gourami
3 red honey gourami
5 tetra's
1 black mollie
2 dalmation mollies

If you can help, pls advise. Would h8 to c anything happen to the others!!!!

Is there something he should be putting in the tank to help out our fishy friends?

It is quite possible that you have an ammonia spike caused by the decaying betta.
the best course of action after any death is to perform a 30-50% water change.

Thanx, will do this when I get home.

Is there anything else I should do??? have read in previous posts about Melafix...

Bare with me I'm new to all this, we can blame the hubby if I ask 2 many Q's.

Would this help at all? or should I just stick with the water change 4 now...

stick with the water change for now. how big is the tank?

Think I put in another post it was 90 litres...
But very wrong is 60 litres!

Where thinking of upgrading to something bigger soon.

Got a Biorb, nice but not really practical and u loose so much visability!

An upgrade is what you need, BioOrbs have very little surface area and your tank is somewhat overstocked.

What are the water parameters?

I have know idea. I can find this out when I go home....

What size tank in litres should we be going for?

30gal would be nice plenty of room for the fish then.

Thanx Wilder!

We are getting our new tank today - 180 litres, sorry not sure what that is in gallons.

I got home to find we lost another fish....3-spot Gourami :(

We r doing a water change this morning.

With an 180 litre fish tank are there any other tank mates we can get to go with the fish we already have but not to overstock the tank...!?!

Now we have only one Danio, would it be a gd idea to get some more...

Obviously not now, once we have done the fishless cycle for the new tank and all our current fish.
