Hi,

Just noticed another danio looking off colour, swimming in small circles near bottom of the tank.

Took him out and put him in hospital tank where I treated him with internal bacterical meds and a bit of salt. Then I noticed something brown stuck under him in 2 little clumps. At first I thought maybe it was poo, but now I don't think it is.

Any ideas?

Water chemistry is fine and tank is as clean as I can get it. I vacuumed it only yesterday, but must admit when I was looking at it this morning I thought it doesn't look spotless.

Should I be able to get the gravel 100% clean or am I expecting too much?

Whatever the brown stuff was has come away now. He's perked up a bit, but still doesn't look 100%

His tummy's a bit bloated, I've put a pea in the tank with him as well. I did notice that he was getting chased by my molly a lot today - the molly had nis nose right up against the danio's underneath. Don't know if it's connected.

I'm beginning to think I can see faint red streaking, but not sure if I'm imagining it after losing one to sceptecemia last week. Always seems to happen on a Friday after the water change :/

thanks

You don't want to get the gravel 100% clean as that where your bacteria colony is aswell, if he is bloated maybe the best thing if he's been off colour by using the internal bacteria med, good luck.

Hi Wilder,

Thanks for the reply. I've just put him out of his misery :-(

He was going downhill fast, very quick respiration and swimming funny with tail down and nose up, red gills. Looked to be going like the other one.

It was the other of my first 2 fish which I cycled the tank with. So my fault for not doing a fishless cycle.

Sorry for your loss, red gills and heavy breathing can be gill flukes, did he flick and rub on objects.

no - but one of the other danios was flicking this morning.

Only for about a minute then it stopped. He seems fine now.

All my danios have pink gills, is that normal? I'm sure they were like that when I got them.

Sorry never kept them don't no, wolf is the danio expert maybe message him and ask, good luck.
