How do I post a pic in an area that has no browse option?
I used photobucket for a little while and hated it. I use browse and pull them from my pc. It works much better and is so much easier!
The problem is that not all sections on here have browse button. Why not?
How do I add a pic when there is no browse?

What would it take to get a browse option?

Thanks :good:

More pictures lead to greater use of both bandwidth and hardisk space- so these are the downsides. I am looking into upgrading the server but this will cost more money per month. I do agree, having photo uploads in all of the forums would make the forums more uniform and more practical.

I would be interested if other people also find this feature (or lack of!) irritating.

I don't use it, I just use photobucket. Why do you hate photobucket so much, ICEEGRL?

My pics kept getting lost and if I happened to delete some to make room for more then they were no longer where I had posted them.

It also takes much longer to find my password... get on the site... get signed in... load the pics... then go back and forth to get them on here.

It is so much easier to just pull them from my pc to here. Then if I delete it from my pc... it stays here. It is a pain to read a post that needs pics to make sense and just see a box with a red x.

Also the setting to keep my pics private kept messing up, and I got a lot of messages from "strange" people!

The main thing is the time it takes though.

Does it take more space to add pics from the pc than one of those sites? I figured that they take the same space either way.

Thanks for helping. :good:

Hi Icee....we are discussing this in the mod section. We'll keep you posted. SH

Thank You. I really appreciate it.
I am not trying to be a pain. I wouldn't normally ask, but it really does make a big difference. Most of the time I stay awake at night just to get to come on here. That is the only time I usually have to really read and post. That is why how long it takes matters. I would never get any sleep. I only get about 3 or 4 hours most nights anyway. I really don't often have the extra time to double load pics. My pc isn't fast enough for me to do all that and sleep too. Like now... It is 3:30, and I have to be up at 6:30. I don't get to take naps either. I just stay very tired!

Thanks again for considering it! It means a lot! :good:

icee, you should know that TFF only allows you to have 20 MB of attachments uploaded to the site. That's about 70 pictures, I suppose. Photobucket allows you to have 1 GB of attachments uploaded.

If you're primarily using Photobucket for fish pictures and need to delete images to make room for new ones, then you're still going to have that problem if you start uploading all of your pictures to the site directly.

Does that mean that if I stay with this site for a long time that eventually I will not be able to add any more pics? How do people handle that after being on here a long time and end up running out of space? Do you have to go back and delete stuff or what?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. :good:

sometimes i go through and delete images that i don't think are important. but mostly i solve this problem by using Photobucket, since it has so much more storage.

i do really like the on-site interface for uploading and managing attachments, but i try to only use my TFF space for images that are very small or should stay on the site permanently. everything else i link to from photobucket.

I do. I wanted to show someone how I built my cabinet for my tank. I went on paint and spent a couple of hours preparing it, only to find that that particular thread wouldn't accept images!

I need more info...
I know very little still about computers, please explain how I know how much room I left. Also I would like to know what you mean about interface?
Do the links eat up your space here, or is it just the direct pics?
How do you take off pics that are unnecessary? Is there a way to go back and see all of the pics I have added from the beginning?
There is so much on here that I still have to learn how to do. You would think I would know more of this stuff by now, but I tend to learn how to do all of this stuff as I run into them instead of looking for stuff and how they work. The main thing is that I don't know what all I am looking for...
Thanks for helping me. :good:

if you click on your username at the top of the screen, then go to Edit Profile, then look down the left-hand side of the screen, you'll find the Manage Attachments screen. it shows how much space you have left, what you have uploaded, etc. this is also the interface that you use to delete images.

It's the images themselves that eat up your space. Think of it as being like a memory stick or a floppy disk (if you remember that far back). You only have so much room to store things before you have to delete some of the old stuff.

Ok. Thanks.

I tried to figure out image shack, but that didn't go very well. It was too complicated for a beginner with no time. I hope to get some free time soon so I can try to figure out how to do it.

What is the best site for pics that is pretty much for an idiot? It must be very easy to use because lately I just don't have the time to sit here and learn how to do something new.

Thanks for helping me. Sorry I am so much trouble. I am trying though... :good:
