Thanks, TallTree.  Since I've seen it recommended to buy as many as you can (20+) to spread their aggression, it might have to go on the "when I win the lottery" list at nearly $20 a pop.

Better yet just buy a huge tank and build the house inside the tank.

Think of the savings on insulation! Just a small worry about privacy though, people outside would be able to see through the tank into the house.
 
And hailstorms would be a bit of a concern.

That fish (in the photo) bears a striking resemblance to another species, Hyphessobrycon metae.  And the other photos in the linked article have a resemblance to other species, thinking primarily of H. peruvianus, but H. loretoensis is also within this complex.  There are also a couple other recently-described species that are close.
 
 

 
The article mentions that a close congenor is H.peruvianus.
 
I agree with regards to the similar colouring with the Emperor Tetra.

Gruntle, here is a site that has celestial pearls for sale. My brother used these guys to source some African Cichlids a while ago and we were very pleased with their service.

Wow, they are expensive for you over there. Such a shame as mine are breeding like rabbits! Maybe a few of you could buy three and hope they breed for you, then stock your tanks with them as they do?

As this is a newly-described species, they wouldn't have very much to put in the article unless it has been maintained by someone somewhere.  There are literally dozens of new species being discovered every year, and some get described soon while others may go years before an ichthyologist gets to them.  You pretty much need access to the source collectors/suppliers to obtain new species, though sometimes a few individuals can arrive in shipments of other fish if they are wild-caught.
 
Practical Fishkeeping editors/contributors try to keep track of new species, or at least they used to, by either checking the articles that appear in the several ichthyological publications where species are described, or someone like Heiko Bleher will write an article on as-yet undescribed species that he has discovered and collected.

I've been looking for Celestial Pearl Danios (Galaxy Rasboras) for over a year now, but nobody has them in this country that I've found. They were around, but now they're not, so I doubt many LFS will bother sourcing these new ones in enough numbers to have them at an acceptable price. And the big chains will almost certainly pass on them ("why don't you just get a handful of Neon Tetras? We have them").
 
Having said that, I can buy a pair of Motoro Stingrays locally for the low low price of $2500 a pair...

 
I want those danios too.  I've only seen them once in a fish shop a little way away from me but at the time I was unable to buy them as I wasn't heading back home.

If you're anywhere near a Maidenhead Aquatics, then try there, as all their stores near me stock CPDs. If not, maybe ask your chosen LFS to order some in for you, I would imagine they would be very easily obtainable through the wholesale trade.
