Another List :)

Hi..now I'll throw a mini wrench into the works. I added my LR directly onto the base of my nano cube, then filled in the LS around it....didn't want to have the LR shift if the sand shifted and risk the aquascaping topple..... nor have dead spots of LS under the rock. There are many ways of doing this. Make sur that..if your LR shows 'sidedness', ie, one side shows coralline algae and the other is bare, try and put the coralline side up towards the light. Good luck. SH

Its interesting you mention about the coraline algae SH.
Im not convinced its such a lover of high lights. ;)
I have no real evidence other than the findings i have had in my own systems but although i do get coraline algae growth on the lit surfaces, i have also found that it grows heavily in shaded areas. Whenever i have moved rocks around and exposed this algae to high lights it simply bleaches and dies away. :(

I have of course also seen liverock with this algae all over it and u nder halides so what i would suggest is if you are doing aquasaping, try and remember where the algae was found when replacing the rock. If it came from the lit areas then place it back like that but if it was shaded then put back in the shade.
Of course there is other ways.. if you see sponges and seasquirts on the rock then this is definately the underside and should be placed in shaded adeas as they are not light lovers so look for these indicators when placing liverock.

Just thought that if you wanted to throw a spanner in the works Sh i would add a couple of wrenches too! :D

My imput is on the live rock I have seen and bought live rock at several places but would only recommend one place, that would be aquariumarts.com. We purchased about 80 pounds from Marty there and it was without a doubt the nicest live rock I have ever seen. Have a look everyone and see what I mean. He has an outstanding reputation.

^ looks good. I'm certanly looking into it. The only problem is the price.........$375 for just 75 pounds? It seems like alot.......Although, marine tanks require deep pockets. Or deep minds :look:

Actually Ethos, that is under 5 bucks a pound, and not a bad price at all.

And lets not forget a very forgiving partner!

True. Thank goodness my Wife is just as hooked as I am. In fact, she has made some of the more crazy purchases.

Sounds like Hannah.........I'd be the one to say "Screw the sump, I dont wanna spend my money on that!" and then she'd come back a few hours later and buy the most expansive sump there was!

I have a friend that has a horse farm in Hugo......Where do you ride?
