oki dokey :)

what should the water be replaced with....rain water or tap water?

we have a very large rain water tank by the way B)
Well if the water is ok it doesn't have to be. But if it isn't you may won't to clean the filter well and perform small 10-20% water changes every other day to rectify the problem. Use tapwater treated with a stress coat and dechlorinater. :) How are the ponds filtered?

mmmmmm chemicals!!

there's a box filter with the biological black tube thingies then about 3/4 alyers of sponge in different densities.

if it is the water can't it be rectified with chemicals rather than water changes?

Why on earth would you want to use chemicals, sure they can rectify the problem but as with most chemicals there are often side affects, because they are not natural the fish, filter bacteria, plants and pond creatures could be affected by them. It is much easier to do water changes, so why don't you won't to? You just dip a bucket in and it fills up and then take it out fill it up with the hose and add teh stress coat and dechlorinater and there you go, far easier and safer than measuring out chemical dosages etc.

i don't want to....!!

just about to go down to the fishy shop, hopfully get a test kit or some more good advise :) cheers!!

Good luck, make sure you get a test kit. I should think the water is fine if no other fish are showing symptoms so if you did see a nice fish you could always buy it and quarantine it in the now free tank and then release it when you have checked the water and done what is nesscary.

What a nice guy!!

we went there and said bring in a sample so we did and he said our water is "spot on"!!

so he's sold us this bateria treament stuff to make sure the other fish stay spanky!!

and that kind of points the finger back to him again!! :/

he didn't get any chagoi, soragoi or ochiba shigure koi in and neither a diamond back sturgeon to gaze at :D so maybe next week when treaments over we will go pick out some pretty ones:D

Cheers for all your help again

mine are still babies!! there learning though :) just gave them a spider aswell, i can start to see the red tink on there tails now aswell

they enjoyed the brineshrimp the other day...when we go to the fish shop we always buy some live bait for them unless it's more than once a week!!

I you ever feed a Tench Live food? I just gave my new Golden one some and he just open his mouth and swam around eating nearly the whole packet. :sly:

No never put live in the pond really, I reakon the ghost koi will snap it all up first, they go for the luncheon meat fast!!

wil have to get some for the ponds next time as my aquaruim are probably always feeding on baby snails and way.

when i first started my tank i put about 3 bog stanard pond snails in, now there's 20+ plus tons of spawn even on the snails them selfs
