I have to say this has to be one of my favorite cichlids, just got to know the name lol

this is what google has as a golden german blue ram cichlid so i dont think its that.

is it an apisto?

the pic u showd is a blue ram..the one i showed is a golden blue ram!

doesnt have the distingtive black markings on its body

its heads totaly different.



do they cross it with something to get the golden colours?

It's a golden ram. Sometimes also called golden German ram. The blue German ram looks similar, but is blue. I think it might be able to cross them, as we used to have 2 blue German females, and one looked as if it had a lot of gold in it too. But DopeyAlex's fish is definitely the golden of the variety. Lovely looking fish. Looks like a male too.

I agree sam, it looks like a parrot fish in the link, I don't think it's a Golden ram at all, but I don't know what it is so i'm not getting into a debate.

that is deffinately a european bred ram, they are the same as the normal rams but obviously they have just been bred to be golden kinda like tench and golden tench.
