I've just read your Planted Tank Journel, very interesting :) How are you finding the JBL system? this what I have ordered.
Does it come with instructions etc...

Temperament, its hard work trying to keep the co2 levels stable, as the needle valve is quite stiff and hard to adjust, which makes it hard to control the co2 in a small tank.
You should be ok if your using it in your tank.

Yes they come with instructions and a small booklet on planted tanks, but the info you get isn't very helpful when setting it going, if you know nothing about them.
I got the JBL profile 1 with it you get a 500g bottle they probably wont last 5mins in your large tank, regulator, the spiral diffuser, tubing and a one way valve.
Hopefully you should be able to use a standard bottle, if its anything like mine, there is another "O" ring on the instruction manual, keep us posted on this, id be intrested to hear on whether it was a fluke.

Hi Simon

Thanks for that information, at the moment I'm trying to bring my ph up a bit. I'm slowly adding a little more coral gravel. There's already some in the filter basket, I added that about 12 months ago and that holds the ph around 6.5 with a kh of 2.
I'm thinking if I can get the ph up around 6.8 even 7.0 when I get the CO2 up and running, if it drops back a little it will be ok. The Profi 2 arrived yesterday. The instructions aren't that great/clear, hmmm guess I'll muddle through

You can buy them for £80 ish now.

Anita, be careful, make sure your buffer your water at each water change, or else you could end up with a PH crash as your water slowly softens,
Coral gravels ok for a wile but as it coated in bacteria and crap it releases less and less carbonates into the water. try using bicarb of soda to control PH and KH, i add about 1/4 tsp to 25ltr to bring PH up to 6.2 from 6.8.

Ideally you need to try and maintain your KH at the 4' to 6' mark at least, at 2' you wont have much margin for error, all you need is th bottle to warm up a little and it increases the pressure in your bottle and the bubble rate, they can stand high levels of co2, just not the PH swings it carses.
I lost a discus due to PH crash when i was injecting co2.
