G'day, I had Angle Fish in my community tank. I found my large fish at the bottom of the tank. It continualy has its head down. It cannot swim normally. Apparently it has been attacked. I have placed it in a tank on it's own. It has been like this for 5 days. I would appreciate it if somebody could give me information on what I can go. I do not want it to die. Cheers Perry

Hi, Perry. Tell us more. What other fish were in the tank with the angel? How big is your tank? What kind of decor? Perhaps most importantly, how is your water quality (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite)? This info will help us know how to help you.

I have Angle Fish large & small, Platies, Guppies, Bristlenose cat fish, Tetras, I have fresh water plants. I do a water change one a week. The tank is a 5 foot tank. I maintain the water at the normal level. I have a large Filter Canister Pump that keeps my tank clear. I personally do not think that it would be the water as I have not lost any fish. Cheers Perry

From what I can tell, the fish is swimming upside down. If so it may be swim bladder. Try feeding it peas without the outer layer. In my experience with swim bladder in goldfish, if it sinks to the bottom of the tank the fish is very sick. It does look very stressed and may have gotten into a fight which could also be the reason for swimming upside down.

G'day Attenbruh, Thank you for your reply. I will give the shelled peas ago. I asked a a guy that beeds Angle Fish. His opinion is that an Angle Fish swam at full forse to chase him away and broke it's spleen. It may come good but he do not think so. He said Angle Fish can be very aggressive.

I agree with the top posts saying it's swim bladder, you can crush peas so its easier to swallow.
that is acute angle fish, i hope it recovers
(get it?)

Thank you all. I have put a few pieces of of shelled peas in the small tank. It seems to be breathing O K but has not eaten of the pieces as yet.
