I have Habrosus and although they are very small, I think they are too big for an angel fish to bother.  They are also fabulous little fish.

thanks blobfish,
that's great to know!

think that's me got the stocking organised for when the tank is ready :)

I have a breeding pair of Angels with 12 Corydoras Sterbai and they do brilliantly, the Angels even leave them alone when spawning as they just keep themselves to themselves!

P.S. I keep my two in a 260L tank and did the buy 6, rehome 4 method - worked perfectly but each to their own.
A word of warning, once they hit maturity at around 7 months, they tore each other apart. Cichlids and their hormones don't mix well. Even amongst the 4 I rehomed that didn't pair, a dominant one came to light and bullied the rest, then one of those bullied another, even though they grew up together so it doesn't always work.

thanks sophie,
i'll bear all of that in mind.
altho it's sounding like it could be a major pain to get two angels in the same tank i'm thinking it will be worth it in the long run.
these were not a fish i had planed on keeping but they just catch my eye every time i'm in the lfs :)

the only other thing i can think of is just getting one angel & a pair of something else but this would be a last resort.

Are you set on growing them from small?
Buying a breeding pair wouldn't be difficult.
I have one single Angelfish in one of my other tanks and he's just as spectacular on his own - just with big, bolshy fish because he has a major attitude problem unlike the breeding pair who are quite subdued in comparison.

Whereabouts in the UK are you from?

the thing is i'm not really wanting them to breed, more hoping they don't.
my lfs would take any surviving young off me but i don't have room for tank to grow them in and my lfs already has someone supplying them with more angel babies than they can sell.
i quite fancied the 2 angels because they have nice tiger (not too sure if this is right discription) ones aswell as plain and i have seen a few koi aswell but i think the koi ones  come from a differen supplier.

i'm in scotland, central region :)

My two spawn regularly but they never get past egg stage as the parents eat them or my pleco does. In a community tank I just let nature take its course.
Don't know if there's a truly reliable way of keeping them in twos without them being a pair..
I just don't know :D

in that case, yeah, i'd prob be more tempted to go with a proven pair :)

i just don't want to end up with everybody breeding and having lots of little baby fish that i can't look after properly

Yeah I wouldn't be able to take care of mine properly either, nothing is set up ready. I have the equipment.. Thankfully, that's not the case. Spawned probably about 10 times now and had nothing past 48 hours ;)

how often do they spawn??? sounds rather frequent, unless i read that last post wrong lol :)

i know with the goldies you can see if the eggs are fertile by looking through them. it's a lot of years ago now since i had my last tank but i think it's a case of a black dot in the middle if it's fertile and they tane about 3weeks to hatch.

Angels are brown when fertile, white when not.
Spawn once every couple of weeks - irregular though.
Could be twice in a week or once in a month sometimes.

oh my word! that's a lot!
what would be the reaction of the angels if i were to try and remove the eggs?
i wouldn't feel so guilty binning eggs if they did not eat them.

Nothing - just carry on as normal. As I said, as soon as my two go to sleep, the pleco/corydoras come and eat them off the leaves :p

that's good, that puts my mind more at ease :D
thanks for all your help and advice, i really have learned a lot of helpful stuff
