Angelfish Tank Ideas?

So I'd have to remove the sand entirely? Even if I rinsed it with fresh water?

So, I'll sell the fish and hopefully rock to LFS, remove the live sand, and thoroughly clean the entire tank and all equipment with fresh water. Then add new aquarium sand that's been rinsed until the water is clean and decor that won't injure catfish (a cave or two and some live plants in terra cotta pots). For stock I was thinking a single angelfish, a school of black skirt tetras, and a school of cory cats. I want panda corys but I'll check on their preferred temperature range and find a species that is in the same range as an angelfish.

That all sound good? Anything I need to change? The stand that I have can hold a 55 gallon on top. I MIGHT be able to convince the boy to upgrade to a taller tank. Possibly. With a lot of bribing.

Make sure that your school of tetras is a good size. They can be nippy but if you have a large enough school then they shouldn't bother the angel fish. Otherwise they should be fine. If you can, go for a larger tank (bigger is better, you see).

If the pandas don't work, sterbai corydoras will be perfect for your tank. But yes, your plan sounds great. The problem with live sand is that it increases salinity (I think) or it has something to do with calcium or something. I'm a fan of play sand. Pool filter sand is also inexpensive.

Ok. I was thinking 8 tetras and 6-8 corys. I'll har to look into sterbai corys. I've only seen panda and green corys. But I'm sure the LFS will be able to order them.
