well its a 55 gallon that is 3ftx2ftx18inch lxhxw

and its for my parents

they want two veiltale angelfish and

then something for the bottom

so ive told them they can have a bristle nose or some cories or both

so theyve decided

theyde like

2 angel fish
6 x peppered corys

also theyre running a suatable external cant remember the make but its suetable

would this be ok i personally think its a bit understeocked but they like the idea so

if all they want mid tank is angels then a larger group of corys could be added, or a few small loaches polkadot, chain, kuhli etc. or even something like a few nice coloured platys to add a bit of movement in the tank.

I agree with mattlee a large group of cories will keep the bottom nice and active and the angels will create a wonderful centrepiece at the top. I have a similar set up and similar size with small shoal in there as well but well aware of the fact the shoal may get eaten later.

ok thanks howmany cories

I really doubt angelfish will eat cories.

To the OP, you could even go for more angelfish like a total of 4-6. As for a number of cories something like 9 onwards is when they really start to get active.

i was told they would become quite agrressive so could they have 6 angels and then 9 cories

If your angels start to breed, they will not tolerate other angels nearby. Larger groups could mean a problem in that way. I always try to have at least 6 cories of a a single species in a tank. They are even better in groups of 10 or more if you enjoy the cory antics.

This is a tank that i have always wanted to try, just a real peacefull tank in general. If I were your parents I would do,

2xAngels
5xCorys of your choice(I like sterbai)
6xMedium-large Tetras(I would choose Bleeding hearts)
and a khuli Loach

You could add in a peacock spiny eel, one of those will add some movement to the bottom of the tank. However Im not sure if it would eat the corys or not. But yes a kuhli loach or two would make nice tankmates.

At least with a group of angelfish though it means the aggression will be spread around if a pair forms. The problem with getting just 2 angelfish is that theyre not always male/female and even then they might not pair up anyway. One angelfihs will generally always grow bigger than the others and bully them around, in the case of only 2 angelfish, the other one will receive all the aggression.

I would start with 8 angels, you are almost guaranteed to get a pair. Sell or return for credit the now larger unpaired angels. If I have 20 corys in an overfiltered 29 with a pair of angels you should have no problem with a group of 10+ in a 55.

yeah i said to myparents and they like 1 pair of angels then 10 corys and nothing else so they will get the 8 and do as tolak said thanks for the help tho guys

i dont think she was saying the angels will eat the corys, more like the corys may spawn
