Hi
I was wondering if any one can help me, my angelfish have just spawned again, we have got another tank for them, its 58x30x30 cm do we need to mature it before we put the fry into it.We got the tank yesterday we were thinking of taking some of the water out of the tank we already have where the angelfish are. any ideas would be much appreciated on this thanks
Joanne

How old are the fry? Will you be using a sponge filter?

they spawned on sunday on a leaf in the tank,we are setting the other tank up now , ready for when they hatch then transfer them over,we are doing a water change on our old tank and putting that into the new one.its a air filter we have that attaches to side of tank that we took out of old tank.

If it was running on your old tank for a while it should be cycled? If not just take some media from your filter and put it in there.

Will you be having the new tank bare, no substrate etc.?

no we have just bought some plants to go in and i have transferred one of the bridges out of the old tank. We have added 3 plants to it

I'd keep it as bare as you can, the fry need clean water to grow and to make it easier on yourself a bare tank will take less time to clean.

oK will do that and thank you for all your help, they did spawn about a month ago and we thought we were doing great with fry put them in a nursery but they managed to escape so think the fish were well fed. Both the angelfish are really good parents watching them with the eggs is really interesting in itself.

first off, congrats. you may want to remove the plant directly and put it in the new tank. this was you can add more methyl blue to protect the eggs as compared to the amout of methyl blue you can add with the other fishes in it. refer to the pinned thread on angelfish spawning for more details.
