Angelfish Aression

Ive got this angelfish in my 39g tank wich was the victim of severe fin nipping by another angel. I no longer have that other angel but i want to get more in the tank. I have been told that if i get at least 4 the agression will be spread out among them is this true, because i would really like a few angels but i dont want any problems with agression.

At the minute the tank is dominated by a male krib who asserts is dominance but doesn't really cause any damage, if that helps at all.

my problem it that i have one thats about 3-4 inches long and i want to add more of the sane size

Have you tried putting in more hiding spots for them so that they each can have their own area?

Aggression in angels is unpredictable, if you are picking up more angels pick up a divider as well.

The best thing to do is remove the fish you have and put it in a bucket. Rearrange the tank decorations, add the new fish & let them have a couple of hours to get used to their new surroundings, leaving the light off & using only room light will help. After a couple of hours add the fish from the bucket, keep the lights off for a couple of days, and keep the divider handy in case of any aggression.

Keeping small angels together is normaly not a problem. When they start to mature they will fight for teritory and mates. It's best to start out with all abought the same size and have a place to move some to as they mature. In a 39 4 should be ok if they have places to hide.... But you always need a way to seperate them if neccisary. Angels can be very agressive. Don T.

Having 3-4 doesn't really spread the agression out. I had 4 angels 5 inches each in the same tank. The medium sized one singled out the largest one and ripped him to peices to the point that I had to remove him and treat him for infections before he got one. Angels are smart. They can tell a femalew from a male when we can't. He was fighting for a female in that instance.
