My favorite angel (who is about 5 years old) had developed what looks like a milky pearly colour around her face.

And she looks like she is going blind too, the eyes are starting to turn milky in the centres.

Some small "holes" are appearing around her gills on both sides. She is also not coming out of her sleeping place very often as usual (been this way for about a month now but without the physical symptoms until now)

I don't want to loose her but don't want her to be in pain either.

Any suggestions appreciated. Have attached some photos (I hope they work!)

A very good treatment for HITH is Metronidazole which here in the UK can only be obtained through the vet.

Sounds like it could be a parasite, any flicking and rubbing, also can you see any redness behind the gill flaps.
Not the writer of this information below.

Milky Skin- Milky skin is excess mucus production. If no new fish have been added more than likely the reason is from pH plunges. Symptoms: Fish hanging at the surface, their skin will appear milky, and their eyes may turn whitish. Treatment: If the pH is stable, but you have added new fish, you can consider ammonia burn, or perhaps parasites. In either event, using salt is highly recommended. In some rare cases, a salt resistant Trichodina, Costia, or Fluke infestation may be the culprit. Use of a microscope will be needed to diagnose this. Then you would treat for the parasite you discovered accordingly

As a former angel breeder...Its old age. The gold strain was never very sturdy strain and 5 years for an angel is about right. She also has a fungus on the gills and the concave belly tells me she isnt eating, or you arent offering the right foods. It's time for a burial at sea, hun... Im sorry. Marbles are tough, but even tho your baby is a gold/marble mix... It's old age.

Oh dear.... she is now at the bottom of the tank looking very unwell. She is still upright (not laying flat) but she is on her last hours for sure. She has been eating but only a little bit, not as much as usual.

I have prepared my daughter that "Spotty" may not be alive in the morning (it's 6pm here in Australia) as she is ok about it but sad. (me too :byebye: )

thanks everyone for your help, now there is only "Stripey" left in the angels.. may have to get him another friend. Do angels pair up for life?

Nope..Angels do not pair for life..As a Breeder, I can tell you that angels are both very social to other fish...But at the same time, some can have a mean streak.

If your running a community tank...Add more angels and redocorate the tank the day you introduce the new members...
