Hi guys.
For the last 2 hours now my small angelfish has had a bloodworm stuck in his mouth.
He is swimming ok and looks fine but still has it stuck.
Im almost certain he will die if he cant get it out as he wont be able to eat.
Any ideas???

First of all, don't panic; this is quite common with the more greedy fish.

Leave him overnight and see if he's got rid of it himself; he more than likely will have.

If he is still having trouble with it after two or three days, then you may have to consider catching him, holding him in a wet towel (do not at any time, touch his skin with yours; you'll pull off his slime coat and leave it open to infection) and carefully[/]i pulling it out; but that's a last resort; they usually get themselves free over a few days if you leave them to it :good:

Don't forget that a healthy aquarium fish can easily go without food for a couple of weeks.

as above dont panic one of my mollys had the same thing left her to it came down in morning was all cleared up and the little fatty still ate as much as she could

Hes still got a bit sticking out yes.
I dont really wanna get his out to remove it myself as i only got him wednesday so hes still really settling in(very well though).
Since i got him hes bed fed tropical flake, brine shrimp paste, bloodworm and algea wafer (although not meant for him).
Being a new fish im just quite worried...
Thanks for the replies.
Guess ill just keep an eye on him for now then?

Yes, keep an eye out, and don't feed the tank for a day or two; will do no-one any harm and can only let things get better :good:

Like folks said, don't worry unless you see the fish "choking". Angels, like many fish, are real pigs when it comes to food. Here is one of my bigger ones doing the same thing with a whole FD earthworm. It didn't kill him either.

(Most of the worm was already inside the fish.)
