I had to go away for a few days and had my teenage nephews feed my fish for me while I was gone. (3 days). When I got back today the water in the tank was murky and I could tell that they had been severely overfed during this time. My two angels looked a little lethargic and one is swimming at about a 30-40 degree angle. I assume swim bladder issues? I don't know anything about swim bladder except that it causes fish to swim quite funny. Anyways I immediately did a 40% water change and sucked up as much of the uneaten food as possible, rinsed out my filter sponge and cranked it on full blast to rid the tank of more debris. There was TONS of flakes everywhere, it was as if half the container of fish food was emptied into the tank. I can't really blame them, it was a nice favor for two teenage boys to do for me but they obviously severely misjudged how much food to put in.
Just curious about the health of my fish? Is my angel going to be ok? They are both swimming around quite happily now but the one is still swimming at quite an angle. I plan on doing another very large water change in a day or two and cleaning the gravel even more at that time. For now the tank is MUCH cleaner I just want to know if I should be concerned about my angel and if there is anything else I should be doing for him?
Edit: Also noticing that my light grey angel's top fin has turned a pinkish color. It this just from huge amounts of "color enhancing" tropical fish flakes?
