Im buying a breeding pair of angel fish and was wondering if anyone can help me please as i dont no much about breeding them like what filter, heat settings do you take the eggs out or let the parents raise them thereself also with my guppy fry i was told a neat trick for feeding them i would get a mixture of food flake and feeze dried put them in a carrier bag and keep crushing it till its really fine dip a tooth pick in there and then the water would this be ok for angels. How many times and how much do i take out when i do water changes and anythink else you can think of that i would need to no thanks

i have to keep bumping it 2 get it to the top of list sorry people

it depends what anglefish you are talking about but assuming its a scalare or a closely related hybrid then you shouldnt have too many problems. firstly the tank preferably wants to be deep with stiff upright plants (ive also used slate and bamboo) the eggs will be deposited on these. i use two sponge filters in my tanks as they wont suck up the fry and are a good bio filter. temp 27-29 degrees increased from 24-25 degrees, 4-10 gh ph 6.5 would be about ideal. you will find it hard to buy an pair so buy six small ones and grow them on till two pair off. they normally show good cichlid parental care but some are rouges and eat their fry watch and if it happens three or more times remove the eggs and hatch them yourself. hope this helps.

Watching this with interest as I have a pair of angel fish in my small tank in the kitchen that have bred a couple of times. The eggs have hatch in the tank but none have survived past small fry as I haven't got another tank set up and I have other fish with the angels. It would be nice to see if I could actually raise the fry if they breed again.

im actually buying a breeding pair that have spawned a few times the owner just hasnt got time to raise fri. That sounds pretty easy to do, the angel fish are freshwater and black and orange i think how often do i do water changes and how much do i take out at a time thanks for the reply much apprecited

The general rule for water changes is 25% once a week.

altum angels are fresh water too but it sounds like you have scalare how big is the tank and are these the only fish youl have in it

yes it is the only fish i will have in it its a 3ft tank i thought when they breed and you got fri you have to do a water change every day good job i asked

i havnt set it up yet but when i do il use water from my other tank that is already matured that should be ok shouldnt it

im getting a filter sponge how can i mature that quicker do i put it into my matured tank?
