Anecdotes About Aqua-tech Filters

I have an Aqua-Tech filter and I have heard everything bad about it, I wanted to get an Aquaclear filter but my Dad wont let me because the Aqua-Tech came with the starter kit for my 29 gallon. It is the model 20/40.

Any personal experiences with these filters?
