ive got a male delta betta and for some unknown reason his fins started sticking together looked like he had some kind of fungus so i used antie fungus meds well its didnt work so i tryed some more no luck so then i tryed some salt still hasnt worked ive done water changes and nothing.
has anyone had this problem and do you know what else i can do?

water is all fine heat is 80 he eats fine im just stumped now i dont know what to do and i dont wanna lose him.

I've had that problem with 2 bettas recently.

i put in 1 drop of melafix per gallon and a little bit of salt. Don't disturb their tanks, leave them alone. Try feeding them, if they don't eat, remove the food right away.

I use a pipette to drop in bloodworms and to remove them if they don't eat. That way, little water is disturbed. (i only feed them frozen, no pellets)

i did a 50% water change after maybe 3-4 days with an airline tube to make sure the water wasn't disturbed. I syphoned it out with the tube and added new water with the tube.

After a few days, they started eating a little bit and after a week, they started to be more active. It took me about 190 days in both cases to see the fish acting normally!

good luck :)

thanks for that i shall go and but some melafix later and try that. :D

1 drop per gallon doesn't seem like enough medication, as it takes 1 tsp (5ML) per 10 gallons.

http://www.healthaccessories.com/ezy_dose/...ne_droppers.htm

You can buy individual droppers and/or oral syringes for that cheaply here^^^

to dose for a gallon you have to break it down.

The whole syringe...1 tsp (5ml)..........treats 10 gallons
3/4 the syringe.......3/4tsp (3.75ml)....treats 7.5 gallons
1/2 the syringe.......1/2 tsp (2.5ml).....treats 5 gallons
1/4 the syringe.......1/4 tsp (1.25ml)...treats 2.5 gallons
1/5 of 1 ML ............(.20ml)..................treats 2 cups

So to treat 1 gallon you need 3/5 of 1 ML.

3/5 of the 1ML section = 3rd tick (.60ml) = treats 1 gallon

There is little way to divy it out smaller then a 1/5 (unless you buy the dropper and it's still gonnabe hard), plus with a oral syring not all comes out..so going to the 3rd line gives you the correct dosage of medicine.

you can't use a full dose of melafix with bettas. I think you should use no more than half.
Anyway, 1 drop per gallon worked out for me with a bit of salt. I could smell the melafix in the water. It is strong medication IMO.

I use the full dose with mine..and it works great...and it doesn't take 3 months to see results..more like a week (which is how long the instructions say to treat for). I was under the assumption prolonging treatment would only make them resistant to the medication in the fututre. (builds up their resistant to it). :/
