an odd question

this may sound stupid but why do some people on this forum call plecos pl*cos with a little * thingo?

If you had done a search you would have found the answer, roughly 2358288 times.

It is because of the myth that typing the word plec would make their plec die. This came about when someone's plec died shortly after writing about it (I think). On Planet Catfish the posts are automatically edited to take out the 'e'
