I have a 55 gallon tank, hat is panted with rocks. I had a school of 7 harlequin rasboras but over time one passed away. To be expected with only 6 the school wasn't as tight and they showed some small signs of agitation. So I added 2 more and now have a good size of 8 rasboras.

Now the school is very tight and they are always swimming together it seems. But this isnt my observation. The6 rasboras i have now have the black triangle on their side but the rest of the body had this color that i would describe as a deep ember color. Like a salmonish, peachish, orangish color. quite pretty. Howver, the two I got are a pale peach color.

Do you think that once their stress levels are down and they are in the roomy tank with a good varied diet that their color will transform to the deep ember color? They all look great but the color mine are just makes them look alive and healthy. I just love the color. It's not  big deal at all because the new guys get along great and they look great but if I look for it I can spot the new ones by their paler color.

Thanks guys, have any of you heard of this before? have you seen it? Think they will get to a deeper color?

They should color up when they get used to their new tank.

In a massive tank such as a 55gallon, You would rarely see a tight school anyway, The more relaxed a fish is the less school'd it will be.

Lighter colors are a sign of stress. I have six neon tetras who used to be a dull orange. Over the span of a months, they have destressed and turned a rich red. Just give them time, and plenty of places to hide.

Thanks everyone! They should do fine then! The only fish bigger than them is the swordtail and maybe the platy. Plenty of room and hiding places.

As everyone said, your new fish will soon have the same color than the others.
