An excited beginner

Hey!
I'm stipelun and I am just starting to get into the aquarium world. I dont currently have my own tank but I have been helping my roommate with their tanks. He is currently working on a cory tank. I would personally like to start a shrimp tank. I have a lot to learn and look forward to hearing advice from you all.

Shrimp tanks are great. A great way to start into the hobby. I've got three tanks with shrimp in them. Blue Velvet shrimp are my favorite.

Shrimp tanks are awesome.
I never thought I could get so much enjoyment out of such tiny creatures, but they are so fun to watch, and active, and even have personalities. I have a red cherry shrimp colony, and several others on here keep shrimp.
Ask for advice about water parameters first to make sure they are acceptable, I am not as knowledgeable about those things as I should be as I only keep species based on my tap water.

Get fish that will eat the shrimp. Big hairy cichlids like Jack Dempey's. People seem to like shrimp but fish are much cooler.

Blue Velvet or Red Cherry are the best to start with I think. There are some pretty cool yellow or orange ones as well.

Those blues are gorgeous.
I'll have to get a picture of my RCS tank. It's just that it's kind of between bigger, heavier tanks and hard to get a good angle. They are breeding like crazy!

I see a couple CPDs in the last pic, what else you got in there?

I don't mix species of shrimp, because they interbreed and then you lose the look in future generations. Not sure if those two kinds mix, but worth thinking about.
