An Elevated Cave Experiment

hmm, most plastic shouldn't be piousness, just wash it thoroughly, with regards to fishing line, no they should do, my cory's and fish dart into my rocks and there not exactly smooth, i was looking for a similar thing, but you can always make your own, use small, hot water pipes and some clear plastic, like i used for my cave

I guess it could happen, but the fish seem really good at spotting the fishing line and avoid it.  So I think the chances of injury are low.  The last cave is complete and drying today.  I will install it tonight.  Now to track down some Apistos....

Okay, the third cave is installed on the platform tonight, and I think it looks pretty decent.  I still need to create one more cave for the bottom middle, since I plan on getting four apistos (1 male / 3 females).

Here is a video I uploaded showing the results so far:

very nice :) video  congrats :)

And...success! Four days ago I purchased a male/female pair, double red, apisto cockatoos. They are fairly young yet - the male is about 1.5 inches, and the female about 1 inch. But they are using the PVC caves! This morning first thing I switched on the tank light to see where they were hanging - the female was in a large cave on the bottom, but the male was actually in the suspended cave halfway up the tank. So I'm pleased that this setup seems to be working so far.

I also acquired 10 ghost shrimp at the same time, and it is fun to watch the male apisto go in one side of a cave, and several shrimp go shooting out the other side to find cover.

Congrats!  Its always nice when things work out the way you hope.
