Yes if you can source another one which you could try to breed them IMO

If not then let another breeder have a go

dpends if you can house it and take care of it properly. To be honest if you're asking the question then i'd say no. loads of research should be done before buying a fish and espically one if it's on the verge of extinction.

From what ive quickly googled they dont get more than 8cm and you wont see it much..

Is there any actual evidence they are going extinct?

Well thanks for your advice and no it actually gets 7cm
MAYBE 7.7cm
Lives and spends it's time under the mud a tan light color not a spiny eel but a swamp eel minimum tank size 30 gallons
Thanks for your info and well your rudeness wasn't really needed, and if I have been keeping my fish alive and strong for the past 7 years I don't see why it would be a problem housing it..

This species has not yet been evaluated, any claims of extinction must be purely anecdotal.

I don't see no rudeness ?? you posted this the same time you were also posting for information on the fish so you had yet to do your research at the time of starting this topic.

They're endangered but not quite going extinct yet....:

it not on the IUCN Red List, so its not in any danger at all. as far as we know.

but if you want a, seriously, endangered fish for your tank (and you have a big enough tank,) get a RTBS. or a Bala shark. both are listed.

I found it on there: http://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/166601/0 down as enangered, not on verge of extinction through.
I thought RTBS were extinct already in the wild, checked and i was wrong :(

He was rude by saying: "To be honest if you're asking the question then i'd say no."

I think the recipient took offence to that statement. It raised my eyebrows so I can see how she felt that was rude. :look:
