An Advanced Marine Forum?

as a reader of lots reef forums i agree with the above as finding something of interest on here is kinda time consuming and one click ive moved on to another forum to satisfy my interest :p

i guess reef central have it sussed now with sections for types of families of corals etc as do many other forums now. hopefully this forum will catch up and make life easyier and more interesting for the growing reef keepers brigade cause keeping a reef is such a diverse world its too big to cram everything related into a couple sections, it doesnt have to have an advance tag but simple headed sections relating to specifics.

take me as an example ive not posted here at all (i try find stuff but loose interest quick and log on rarely because of this) but im very active in many other forums and the simple main only reason is ease of use/access to specific sections, basically i know where to post to get a very informed quick varied reply and also to find stuff of interest to me.

eg for simplified reef sections

REEF CHIT CHAT (posts of just about anything)

SPS / LPS (dedicated to these coral families, questions, pictures etc)

SOFT CORALS (dedicated to these coral families, questions, pictures etc)

ANENOME'S (important section for the care of)

INVERTS (dedicated to these family, questions, pictures etc)

PHOTOGRAPHY (we love to see pictures of anything reef related)

I.D (great section for anything odd/unusual requiring some id)

MEMBERS TANKS (i guess most like to show off)

IM NEW SAY HELLO (introduce yourselves, helps create a more family atmosphere exchanging niceties and makes ppl return)

SPONCERS (listings)

LIVESTOCK FOR SALE/TRADE

EQUIPMENT FOR SALE/TRADE

sections are simple and direct so you cant go far wrong with this basic section set up

IMO there simply is not enough traffic to warrant those change

If anything I wouldnt make an "Advanced" forum, but make a "Beginners Marine Questions" forum. This way, the beginners asking alot of the same questions will be diverted there, where they may even get their answer without posting a new topic alot easier, whilst the more in depth discussion can still be had in the "Marine and Reef Chit Chat" forum.

The problem with that setup is that the more advanced or educated responders will soon tire of answering the same questions over and over because no one uses the search function or the pinned topics. I mean it already happens. And then the newbies quickly learn to post in other sections where the more advanced members hang out longer.

Also I tend to agree that so many sections are not really needed here as the traffic is mainly tropical keepers seeking advise on converting to saltwater. I also like coming to these forums to get away from the hassle of RC. These forums are dedicated to all aquarium keeping and as such really cannot afford to get into so much detail in every section
