Hi to all,

What i would like to know is what is the diffrecne with these two types of clownfish: COMMON CLOWN - PERCULA CLOWN, As ive just been reading CLOWNFISHES AND SEA ANEMONES by BARRON'S And under the percula chapter it just sez similar in all respects to the common clownfish.

Does that mean everything is the same in the two ? [size, colors, temprement ect]

Thanks
rich :D

I think if I remember rightly ocellaris are easier to keep and percs r a brighter orange... but most clownfish r good choice for a beginner..

:D

I was told the difference is the dorsal spines. I think percs have 9 spines and false percs have 8 or 10. Don't know if this is true, just the info I was given.

Counting the dorsal spines is the only truely accurate way of telling the difference. This is not practical however so the black banding colourations are usually a good indication (though not 100%). THeir needs and temperments however are the same so you need not worry about differences in this area.
