Amphipods+mandrins

Hi, I was wondering if Mandrins eat amphipods? or do they only eat copeods? im just a bit confused
I think they eat both, whenever others ask, people usually answer pods so that could be amphipods, Isopod, copepods.

Mandarin dragonets do eat many of the creatures found on live rock, including (but not limited to) copepods, amphipods, and isopods. Some people got theirs to eat frozen worms or shrimp, and mine was, too.

A reef tank will allow all pods to growin the tank but a mandarin will make short work of them even if you think you have loads of liverock. 1 Mandarin per 100lbs of liverock is usually the norm. This creates a large enough area for pods to grow in relative safety and gives enough constant food for the mandarin to thrive upon.

Wow. Does this apply for all Dragonets?

yes - pretty much.

i added a mandarin to a 120g with 80kg of live rock and the pod levels dropped like mad.

i have had to add a pod fuge to keep the levels up and by dosing this with pod cultures was able to kick start it. i am now back to significant levels of pods visable at night on the glass and a fat mandarin.

i wouldnt bother with a mandarin or scotter unless you have a LOT of rock or can run a pod fuge - dont be fooled by feeding frozen either- these fish have small mouths and need to peck all day long, getting him to grab some frozen twice a day wont cut it.

I see little shrimps and worms wandering about the tank, but they aren't harmless, i think my goby eats some of them.

I also think i've spotted a brittle-star in there which would be cool, i just hope it isnt one of the types that grows HUGE cus i couldnt hack that in a 15G...
