i noticed that my pulsing xenia wasnt fully out (usually they are the first to tell you your water is not just right). i checked the salt and it was 1.025. i added water to lower the salt. then i did a water check and noticed that everythign in my tank was perfect. 8.2 ph, 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, but my ammonia was was high. I did an 18 gallon water change on my 75. the ammonia is still high. what could be causing this? i am doing water changes with an r/o DI kit.

they only thing I could think of is some of my macro algae died when i first put my mudd filter in. I never did anything with this and the bottom of my mudd filter looks pretty dirty? do you siphon this out? or with this hurt? any ideas to what maybe causing it?

i believe the mud filter is whats giving you all the trouble. try siphoning it out but be carefull not to siphon too much. remove any dead material because thats probably your scource. are you running a protein skimmer? if so good if not,
then there's your problem, buy one and it will solve all your problems.
other things include overfeeding, other dead material, moving in uncured live rock,
and using glass cleaner with ammonia, but i doubt that because youll wake up the next morning to find all your fish dead :rip: and the water looking like the smog in mexico city  if all else fails then do frequent water changes and use amquel after running water though the ro unit. you can buy amquel from most pet stores.
i use it in all my fresh and salt water tanks. you can also try ammona removing media good luck
