Hello All !

Please could you help.
I am quite new to Tropical Fish and have problems with a fairly new tank - 2 weeks old !
I have high levels of ammonia approx 0.50 ppm amd now have fish with White Spot.
The info for the white Spot say's to remove all media that removes Ammonia from the filter.
I have just put all this in to sort the Ammonia levels.
What can i do.
I don't want to lose any fish !

Regards,

Mrt

The tank is cycling and the ammonia has to rise, then you will have to go through the nitrite process, which all in the end takes it toll on the fish as it can burn and irratate there gills, there are no gurantee that a fish will make it through the cycling process, as it takes alot out of them even causing the immune system to shut down and death.
Whitespot, turn temp up to 30, just remove the black carbon in the filter that removes chemicals, leave the rest of the sponges in the filter.
Also increase aeration in the tank as the med and high temp will reduce 02 in the water.

:) Thanks for the advise.
It is much appreciated.
I have turned the air stone up full for the time being and the carbon is out.
Let you know thw results, however the fish do look ok at the moment.
