The ich has cleared up and they look fine I started yesterday lowering the temp slowly and I've got it back down to 79F from 86F yesterday. The problem is theres still no nitrites and its been nearly 4 weeks. Its my understanding that the type of bacteria that converts ammonia to nitrIte is the easiest and quickest to develop. Is there something wrong? If it takes this long for nitrItes to form I can't imagine how long its going to take to get nitrAte ![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
btw
I was trying to let the ammonia rise so the bacteria could form and the ammonia is at 2.0 ppm right now but my fish look fine. In fact the Black Skirt tetras fins have healed up well in the last week from being damaged somehow before (maybe it was the serpaes?)
