Is it normal for a slight rise in ammonia when adding new fish i added 11 neons last night and i have a slight rise in ammonia ill get to work on water changes now.

Yes, your filter needs to adjust to the extra ammonia it needs to process. 11 is quite a lot of fish to add in one go, would've been better to split that into two or three groups over a few weeks.

It depends on how many fish you had to start with but yes, you'd normally always expect some small increase in ammonia until the filter bacteria multiply to take care of it. It should be back to normal within a day.

Cheers guys. Your right soybean. But there always on offer £10 for 10. Next time I will buy smaller.

Extra water surface rippling to increase oxygen levels in the water will help the bacteria catch up with the new bioload quicker, as would raising the temperature just like is advised when fishless cycling (but this is often constrained by the fish in there).
