Amazon Sword Thing

I have amazon swords in my tank. One of them (well second, the first I ripped out) has this long stick thing that is growing rapidly and over the past two weeks has showed up and poked out the top of the tank. What is this? Is it normal? Thanks

sounds like the runner, it is normal, it may have white flowers on it soon and make baby plantlets
