I would have a look in the member tanks sections within this forum, particularly the new world cichlid tanks and planted tanks. I'm not really up to speed with what constitues an amazon look, but if you want to create a true biotope then you should research the species (flora & fauna) for a particular region and take it from there. I thought about doing this with my 190 corner tank, but its not truely there yet. All the fish species (pictus, dwarf acara and severum) are from the amazon, black widow tetras are from paraguay so technically nearly there! Most of my plants are one sort of sword or another, again these are south american plants, but I do have a few exceptions in the i.e. Vesicularia dubyana from asia which is a type of moss, and a fast growing stem plant I forget the name of which is currently in there to help combat algea build up and a lilyTropica Nymphaea lotus (zenkeri) from Africa! . I also have a large piece of wood as a centre piece, along with smaller peices of bogwood throughout the tank and a slate cave setup to the left which probably does not constitute an amazon look, but hey I like it. If I could change anythin I would have sourced a more rooty looking piece of wood for the centre piece which would start above the waterline to look like an actual root sytem entering the water. (still on the lookout actually)
