i ams ooon to get a tank with the inhabitants of 2 leaf fish and 2 discus and maybe a eel tailed banjo catfish do you know if these will be ok together

Leaf fish are carnivores that also need extremely stable water conditions, and easily catch diseases.

On the contrary it would work very well, all those fish come from the same habitat and share a liking for the same water conditions. The leaf fish and banjo cat are very peaceful fish so wont bother the discus and they all have diferent feeding needs so there wont be compettion for food, sounds like a nice colourful and interesting tank.

Really? the site I read about leaf fish said they were aggressive carnivores.

Carnivors yes, to fish of 2" or less but aggressive no, they just drift around trying to look like leaves, by being aggressive they would give away the disguise which would mean loosing prey and making themselves visable to larger predators. Leaf fish only get to around 4" so are no threat to fish of 3" or over.

my local lfs said leaf fish were very delicate but with the right partners they can live just about fine with the species that are calmer

these fish should be OK together, Discus are good with non-aggressive fishes, leaf fish are harmless unless your a small fish (not a discus) and the banjo catfish will be under the gravel most of the time.

however leaf fish are difficult to feed due to their diet, and discus should have soft bacteria free water, and banjo catfish although nice fish are a waste in an aquarium as they hide all day.
