I'm going to be converting my 110l coldwater tank into an amazon biotope :) I'll be using biological filtration like my other tank, the progress will be quite slow so sorry if I don't update often.

Plan:

Tank: 36"x12"x15" 110L

Lighting: Fluorescent tube light

Filtration: Biological and APS 100ef+

Plants:

Amazon frogbit
Hydrocotyle leucocephala
Cabomba
Amazon sword
Heteranthera zosteraefolia
Myriophyllum elatinoides
Mayaca fluviatilis
Echinodorus tenellus

(just a general list, I'll see how many of them I can find)

Stock:

Need help with this. I want a pair of apistos but I've read that they won't tolerate nitrates in the water, is this true for all of them?

Pair of apistos/bolivian rams
6+ school of small tetra - ember/red eyes?
6 spotted headstanders
6+ corys
6+ otos?
Pencilfish?

Not completely decided on everything, it'd be great if someone could recommend me some more plants and some unusual stock.

Cheers

Owen

that tank looks good, i cannot help you with apistos but i do know that with 6 ottos you will need a lot of algea so that could be ind of hard to keep it up

Thanks, I read that they needed to be kept in groups of at least 6 so maybe I will have to give them a miss.

^Cheers both :good:

Just tested the water:
Ammonia- 0ppm
Nitrite- 0ppm
Nitrate- 0ppm

May be able to have apistos after all if the water conditions stay like this :)

Thanks, and neither :) The tank uses biological filtration as well as a filter so there is compost under the sand that provides fertilisation for the plants.

Looks absolutely gorgeous! I love how simplistic and natural looking it is :good:

It's lovely. I love the dark look. What type of lights are you using?
