Right I don’t know if I’ll get wrong for this or if I’m posting on wrong place. Firstly it’s not mine. Id just love it if someone from here could buy it and use it.
Right there’s a stunning octogon shaped tank for sale on eBay in Enfield, North London ending Sat morn. £34 at the moment. Used once and custom built for an exhibition apparently. It’s two tanks that wrap all the way around a pole/pillar giving the appearance of one tank. 48”/1210mm across and 32”/800mm high.

Anyone with a pole/pillar in the middle of their house/barn conversion/warehouse apartment etc could use it as two separate tanks. You wouldn’t even need a pole to be honest.
PPM or temp differences preventing you combining your favourite fish? Buy it! Compatibility issues mean youre having to decide on one of your two favourite fish? Buy it! Fresh v Salt? Buy it? Eggs being eaten in tank? Buy it!

Im 20 mins away. I just wish I could use it. Looks heavy though.

Do an eBay search for: Large fish tank bespoke to fit around coloum. Make sure you spell column as coloum. IE the way i have as that’s how it’s done in the ad.

It’s kind of neat, not seen one quite like this.

Though I imagine it must be a bit of a nightmare to set up, need a bespoke stand for a start and set up especially needed for lighting, external filters and a hood if you need it as well as all the other bits and pieces.

Neat idea but a lot of planning required.

Oh it’d be a long term project.
Electrics and/or pipe work could come up the pole bit from the base containing everything needed if the buyer didn’t have a pole.
Heavily plant where the tanks join in both tanks and it may look even look like one tank.

That would be something special, about 750l minus the cut out for the column.
I think it’d work better without a column. The cut out allows hidden pipework, electrics etc. It could look stunning.

I’ve room in the shed for storage at the moment.
Weve been talking of extending the house...but only prior to selling and moving to france/Spain/Portugal/Italy which is out of the window now. Though if we were to go back up North....no stop it. Enuff. I’m not changing my life for a fancy shaped fish tank. Stop. It’d look good though.....and at £34...

I’m a carpenter/joiner. Working in London. The only house I’ve worked in ”worth” under £10m for ten years is my own!
These sort of houses/clients have these tanks. The places we work in would have this in the middle of a small reception room on a marble clad platform with a marble skirting board. Disguised access to the plumbing/electrical beneath the tank. It’d be hard wired/plumbed python style with no buckets reqd. Not that they’d have a used tank. It’d be bespoke and probably bigger with a specialist fish co maintaining it.
We can only dream.

I dabbled with party planning when I lived in London so I know the type of house, and yeah don't reckon the owners would keep fish but have them kept for them.
You do have to wonder about tanks used in exhibitions, when the thing is over do the suppliers reclaim the stock, who looks after things during the exhibition etc etc?

The lid would be a problem. Even custom built it’d look ugly even in our house never mind a millionaires. Maybe a table across the top that could be moved to one side?
Though 800mm high with built in pipework going over the rim plus a lid adding to the height it wouldn’t be a usable table but more of a breakfast bar with stools reqd.
A platform/base beneath to house external filters would raise it even higher. Hmmmm. A couple of substantial interior filters at either end of each tank?
Its adding up now.

Dude, you want the tank! Get it, then plan out what to do with it :)

Build it into a granite clad steel framed column that reaches the ceiling, nice hidden access panels above and below, loads of room to hide filters etc, have eye level about 1/3 down from the water surface, plumb in a python underneath........then build a house around it......simples......

Look. You need this tank. It's crazy cheap. It'd be a long term project but so rewarding  you build stuff could get up on your attic and make a loft fish tank room with this as the centerpiece. You know you want to.

Don't know about putting what will be going on for about a ton up in the attic, be a few RSJs needed...........
