Amano Shrimp

hi all i am thinking of getting some amano for my 40 gal have been reading up on them and just wondering if they would survive with my current fish stock i am looking to get rid of my goldens and maybe my rams but would they be ok with them as i dont want them to be fish food

my yamato (amano) shrimp are fine with everything in my tank, even my crabs!
 
hi radar in my book he is down as a suckermouth catfish but i think he is just a common was going to get rid as i know he gets quite large but everytime i mention it my gf moans cause she loves him to death

i purchased 4 amano the other day got them quite large thinking they should do better than smaller ones seem quite happy when i see them

I think you've been lucky mixing shrimp with crabs is a recipe for problems, I'd always advise against it.

Spitfire - amanos should be fine with your fish, give them plenty of hiding places (for when they shed) - even small fish are a danger to shrimps when they are shedding.
 
cheers for that moray yes they have a few places to hide. Why are small fish a threat when their shredding?
 
they are very soft when they shed, and usually quite immobile, even small fish can take bites out of a non moving soft target, as all fish keepers know - fish can be quite vicious when the want to be - it's natural.
 
Hey spitfire. I asked what plec you had becuase some plecs can eat shrimps. They like pounce on them. But your plec is fine. Its the more meaty eating plecs you gotta watch out for.
