Hi. I was just wondering if anyone else has amano shrimp and could share some insight and tips on what to give and how to care for them

most shrimp love lots of mosses for food and flakes and bottom dweller pellets.

Don't overfeed and make sure your water is in tip top condition; shrimps, of any variety, can't tolerate any ammonia or nitrite.

Apart from that, amanos are pretty easy :)

is it ok to add cherry shrimp and maybe some smaller fish such as tetras in with them?

Thats should work i dont now of any shrimp that are aggressive and esp cherries and neons arent aggressive, how big is your tank?

this is a rather small tank at 2.5 gallons

i have also read that these shrimp have a low bioload and that its possible to keep many shrimp/gallon

You could keep nothing with them except maybe a betta at that size tank, but the betta would probably eat them.

Bought 6 of these last week.... All gone now totally disappeared. Never again

Ahh ill keep that in mind Ellie.

Sorry to hear that rybrows :( luckily mine are still alive after a week and i believe one of the is molting or something.

Your shrimp are most likely hiding, what are they with?
I have started seeing mine coming out a few weeks after I put mine in.

My shrimpies have given birth to more! theres a small one swimming around my tank. its a fresh water tank so im confused on why its alive. Can anyone help me / give advice on how to raise it?

Are you saying your Amano shrimp gave birth to shrimplets, and now what you see is an actual baby shrimp? Not the larvae stage of it?

yes they look like mini shrimp

i had no idea what to do but im pretty sure they are dead by now
