Amanda's First Planted Tank...

I am trying to get things updated with pics again. This tank is having new issues now. It had cleared up, and I added some plants that need higher light. I am trying to keep them fairly healthy until I get the new lights for the 55g.
I have now moved a lot of them to the 55, but some are still waiting. I added some that were red, and they turned my water red. How did that happen?
I cleaned up one pic and left one so you could see. I am going to do a big water change and move some plants around a bit tomorrow.
Here are the pics...

There are a few things on wood that will come out soon. The rest will stay for a while.

I have some more fry that will be moving in soon also.

The rotalla wallichi isn't doing very well. I am trying, but it doesn't look happy. My 4 year old has a couple of stems, and hers looks good. I just don't get it. Her plants always look better than mine. I think it may be that she doesn't mess with hers unless it really needs it. She has a little bit better light too.

I think your tank looks great, i ove the idea of a planted tank but dont know if i really could go through all you have to get it right! Persevere with it and you'll wake up one morning, look at it and it will be perfect!
A tank well done

xXx

Thanks.

I don't think most people go through all the stuff I have. lol I mess up a lot! Another problem is that I don't have the money to get the right stuff. I have to cut corners every where. Some times my tanks really suffer because of it too. I have good intentions though, and I am saving as much as I can to try to get the stuff that I need. It just takes longer than most. Maybe some day someone will feel sorry for me and donate some stuff... I can wish.

Something spawned in this tank...
I collected the eggs and put them in a net. I think it was the albino pair, but I am not sure. It could have been the elegans pair. If they turn out to be good I guess we will see. Either way it is a good thing.
I have corys in 2 other tanks spawning too. I was going to do water changes today, but I don't want to mess with them. I guess I will wait until tomarrow.

This is what it looks like right now.
It isn't scaped. It has my cuttings and other plants that needed a place to go. This tank changes a lot. Cuttings go in, and larger plants go out. It is the grow out and holding tank for plants and fish. (for when they are between actual homes...)
Thanks for looking...

It looks pretty good. Right now, my 36g has this function, especially regarding plant cuttings. I seem to dump everything in there. I just can't find it in my heart to bin. Maybe I will send some stuff to you. Want some Bolbitis?

llj

Sure. You sent me a little bit before, but it isn't really growing much. It still looks healthy though. That is what is on that small piece of wood in the front left corner in these pics. You can see the wood but not the plant. You can see it a little if you look really close. It just doesn't show up in any of the pics. I can't get it to show up in pics at all.
Also the orange plant in front is one of the red ones you sent. It is the only one that turned that color. I put it in here because it looked odd in with the others. I am going to see what it does.
The rotala, moss, bolbitis, the red/orange ones, and what ever that is in the back right corner all are some that you sent me. The larger pieces have been added to other tanks. These needed to grow a bit more, and the moss hasn't stuck yet so I can remove the string.
I put moss on 2 pieces of slate, 4 caves, 3 large pieces of wood, and 4 small pieces with what you sent. I am even playing with it. I put a little on a few bio balls to see what it would do. If it sticks and grows it could be really cool!
Is that the only thing you need to get rid of right now?
Did you ever get enough e. tenellus? I am hunting more now. I bought one before, but I didn't really think I would like it that much. It turns out that I like it a lot... Now I wish I had gotten more. I wish it would start putting out little ones. I guess that will take a while though. I want to cover the front of the 55g with it, and I am thinking about having it in the path too. I'm not very impressed with the microsword. I think I am going to move it to another tank.
I love the little anubias too. They are too cool.
Let me know when you get ready to thin out/ trim your plants. I will take what ever you want to send. I love them all.
Thanks :good:

This is what the tank looks like now. It has a bunch of corys in it right now along with 2 mollies and 2 cardinals. The corys are getting to the point that they will be needing a bigger tank soon. (or a new home) I hatched them for a pet shop that decided to close. Now I have about 60 corys that I don't really have room for. They are bronze and peppered corys. I am in the process of trying to find another home for them.

I will be adding some new wood to this tank very soon. The stuff in this tank is ready to go in the big tank. Then I can tie some plants to some new wood that I have had soaking. This is the best tank that I have for starting plants and stuff.

Thanks for looking. :good:
