Am I daft or just hoping too much?

Hi,

I know that it is unlikely and I may be just dreaming, but I have just looked in my DP tank and there are quite a few round, transparent things on one of my plants.I thought they might be air bubbles but they are not moving to the surface.

I checked on Rens page and they do look alot like his pictures of eggs.

How excited do you think I should be getting and what shall I do if I get fry?

Other tank mates are 3 ottos and a very stubbon headlight neon that I cannot persuade to leave to the tank, even though I have explained the dangers of staying in there.

They are most likely snail eggs, keep a eye on them and see what they hatch out as.

Dwarf puffers breeding in aquariums is indeed very very very uncommon, and the chances are very small. However, if you have an extra 5G laying around it couldnt hurt to put the eggs in there to actually be able to see things before they get eaten ;) Try taking a picture of the eggs so we can confirm it's snail eggs for sure? It would be a shame to let the dp fry get eaten when they hatch because we Thought they were snails.

dont ask me what type of snail they are, but the eggs that the snails i breed for my puffers lay tend to be in elongated tube-like clumps attached to leaves and glass, rather than individual eggs.

these do look alot like air bubbles but are stuck on top of a plant .will post pic when bf gets home

I do agree that the way you describe it does not sound like snail eggs. But I dont wanna give you any false hope here :) Snail eggs tend to have a 'bag' around them and not be individual eggs. Pics should clarify though :)

Actually, it is quite common for this species to breed in captivity.
