Could this work-

Money is a bit tight right now but If I buy a 2nd 4ft and buy a 5ft long wooden drawer, would it hold and would it work?
To use it as a stand

It would depend on the construction of the drawers, if it has plenty of support it would probably be OK. After building a few tank cabinets they are not amazingly strong just have loads of supporting sides.Have you thought of a DIY stand? There are loads of journals on them and work out really cheap!

It might, but without the draws in it would make it pretty weak, it also depends what it's made out of, how strong the joints are etc. Need more details.

Maybe, if you have enough pairs of socks to fill the draws and cushion the blow when it all goes pear shaped
