Finially I have a fully cycled 16 gal tank. My origional plan was to stock it with 4 puffers and one otto. I don't know why I planned on the otto... maybe because I just wanted something other than the puffers in the tank. Is there any reason I need an otto? I really could live with just the puffers.

Also, Any advice on how to acclimate the dwarf puffers to my tank when I get them? My water is hard... Don't want to cause problems by introducing them to my water wrong. Is 16 gal enough for four?

What water are they coming out of at the shop?

When pH and water hardness difference is high, I normally drip acclimatise fish over some hours: place the fish with shop water in a bucket with a small heater, start dripping water from the fish tank via an airline, at a rate of approximately 1 drop per second. When the bucket is full, fish are ready to go into the tank.

If there is no pH, nor hardness difference, I will just net them out and straight into the tank. This has always worked even for delicate fish, for me.

There is no "need" for the Oto.

..can't help you with anything puffer specific though..
