Allpondsolution Externals

If their externals are anything like their internals then you get what you pay for.
I've had one of their internals & the flow drops off like you wouldn't believe, so if you're after 12-1400lph I'd go for the 2000

I was thinking this actually, afterall its only £10 difference between the 2 so ild be mad not too. Having said that i hoping this wont effect me too much as i wont have any media inside it, just lots of bioballs.

I haven't found the plastic tubes to be at all flimsy :)
good to know

Also dose the filter need priming everytime its switched off????
Another thing i read.
Or does it just fire up again providing the filter and pipes are full of water?

No, it doesn't need priming (thankfully cos it's a nightmare to start again!!!) every time you turn it off, just when you clean it and empty it of water

good good good i think this may be the filter for me:) Thank you for your help

Yea iv heard they are hard to prime. Is there a knack to it?

I think the best way is to push the button as far down as it will go a few times rather than faster but half way down if you see what I mean :)

It's hard work!! :D

Can anybody please tell me how long approximately the spraybar is on the 2000ef model?

It's bout 25 inches 640mm 64 cm.
that's full length

It comes in 4 pieces so u can have it ....

19 inches 480 mm. 48 cm
13 inches. 330mm. 33 cm

Your a star thank you. Is the flow nice and strong from the spraybar? How long did you make yours?

I have mine the full length but was thinking of putting it down to just parts of it an putting it on te side of my tank to push the water up towards the inlet of the filter at other side of the tank rather than push the water up against the front glass if you know what I mean...

I find the flow nice an strong there is good moment on top of my water...

Thanx. I only want it on one side of my tank so i can only use 3 lengths of spray bar according to your measurments.
I might drill the holes a little bigger for slightly better flow.
Youve been extremely helpful, thankyou

You have probably already decided but here you go, on what I know.

Anybody have an Allpondsolution external filter.
In particular this model
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquarium-Fish-Tank-External-Filter-Optional-9w-UV-Steriliser-Media-EF-Models-/310482469238?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14840%26meid%3D6449493509155965514%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1013%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D190769854374%26
Can you tell me a bit about them.
Any good?
Experience with them.
Good flow rate?
Quite? Loud?
Do you have to use surface skimmer?
Ect ect..

Any good?  When I first cleaned it out I found it was full of the sort of stuff you want it to be full of
alien.gif
, apart from my missing Kuhlis!
Experience with them.  I got one with a second hand tank, it is the 1400 with the UV light
Good flow rate? As far as I am aware, but running it with the internal also, just as back up and because I can ;)
Quite? Loud? Mine is in the bedroom and it is very quite, when visitors come to stay and use this room, I have to quieten the water return from the internal, but there are no complaints about the external.
Do you have to use surface skimmer? NO

It is my first external and when I got it the latches were broken, and therefore it leaked when I turned it on.  Rather than spend £20 on replacing them I used a £2.50 ratchet strap to seal it, all is good now.

Yes, I have found a knack to it.  Basically once it is all back together fill the filter right up to the very top prior to attaching the hoses again i.e. until you can see water at the top of the hose connectors.  I do this with a battery pump, but you could also do it by hand.  It is surprising how much can still fit in there!  Then, once it is running again, give it a little side to side shake to release any trapped air.  I do this a couple of times and then it is away again.

Personally it was a filter I had done a lot of research on at the time, and when I enquired what external came with the tank, I went ahead knowing these had good reviews.  Only thing is that APS are very difficult to get hold of and I believe they do not have a phone that is answered, I received no response (via email) about a new power-head I was asking about, so bought another brand.

I have also heard the aqua-mantas brand are good, but no personal experience.
