I would recommend APS i have bought a few filters from them internal and external never had a problem.

Iv had a couple of 2000s over the years, if you are going to get one then get the one without uv, I noticed a lot better flow than the one with the uv. There great bang for buck and at 20litres you will be looking over double the price with anything that has that sort of capacity for media. The only downside for me is it uses 55w of power but I would definitely recommend one.

I've got the External Filter your talking about and it's currently cycling in my new 250ltr tank - seems to be doing a good job sofar, so hopefully will be a good filter in the long term.

How quiet is the 2000 one? Been thinking of getting an external for some time now, but need a quiet one as I sleep basically next to my fish tank.

I know with the the 1400 EF+ one there's a quiet hum but my filter is in the lounge area and not in bedroom

Is the ef+ got the led light in it? I'm reading mixed reviews about the ones with the light in them having poorer flow compared to the ones without.

It's got the UV steriliser built into it and the led light is the uv indicator which means the uv is on and working - flow rate seems fine but this is my first set up with external filter so can't compare to others - if your concerned I would put a search into the forum and see other threads for opinions

There's a very slight hum, that's all.
